    Common guest friction

    9 min read

    Think like your guests

Your guests are investing time, money, and annual leave to be there. After our Bali wedding, the consistent feedback was that most friction came from uncertainty — not bad planning, just unclear communication. Here's what we learned.

    The unclear schedule problem

Guests arriving in an unfamiliar city without a clear itinerary feel lost. We learned to provide a day-by-day schedule well in advance — what's planned, what's optional, and when they're free to explore. A multi-day schedule shared through a Couple Hub & Guest Hub eliminated the "when should I be where?" anxiety entirely.

    Accommodation and travel stress

Don't leave guests to figure out accommodation alone — that was one of our early mistakes. Offer a curated list across price points, negotiate group rates if possible, and share transport options from the airport. Visa information, local tips, and weather forecasts shared in advance turn travel anxiety into excitement.

    Dress code confusion

"Beach formal" means different things to different people — and different things in Mexico versus the Amalfi Coast. Be specific: suggest fabrics, shoe types, and climate considerations. For guests who won't know many others, a casual welcome event before the ceremony helps everyone settle in. We found this made a huge difference.

    The solution is always communication

Nearly every guest friction point comes back to the same thing: they didn't know. A dedicated Couple Hub & Guest Hub — with schedules, accommodation options, FAQs, dress codes, local guides, and a packing checklist — answers questions before they're asked. That's not just helpful; it's hospitality. It's also exactly what we wished we'd had from the start — and why we built it.
